Ride out to the Hard Rock

The Tampa Hard Rock Casino is another popular destination point. It is very popular among locals and tourist alike. In fact, the. RNC has the entire place booked for the week they wiil spend here.

Cab drivers like going out there (just look at the meter). After hours it is the place to be since the local liquor laws do not apply. It is on a Seminole Indian reservation. Now its their turn to rape the white man.

I hope the Republicans only gamble their money and not ours like the Democrats are doing.

Busch Gardens

Tampa taxi drivers love trips to Busch Gardens. They can put some money in your pocket and allow you shift zones without deadheading. The money is the best part.
These trips are common during the season and mean that tourist are in town. In this case, the family is going on a cruise Sunday and wanted something to do for the day. Busch Gardens is a great place for that.
The kids were really excited about the roller coasters as we were going in and I rolled the windows down so they could hear the riders screaming. Sometimes this job is just fun.
I hope delegates to the RNC take the time to enjoy themselves while they are in Tampa.

Blue One transportation bad for Tampa business

Despite the fact that a Blue One driver stole my fare today ay the Crown Plaza hotel on Kennedy, Blue One are some very bad people and not safe for the general public.
I had a van time call pick up todau at 11:30 am and found out a Blue One driver had loaded them before I arrived.  This is wrong and perhaps illegal. I also have a problem with the Crown Plaza hotel worker who lied through his teeth by telling me he was trying to cancel.  United Cab provides good Service to this hotel and we do not need to be jerked around by a liar who works the front desk.
The drivers from Blue one are marginal men with questionable criminal backgrounds. If you are coming to the RNC in Tampa understand Blue One's rates are too high. We charge 15$ for what they charge 60$ to get to the airport. They are ripping you off. Ride with United Cab if you are here for the RNC and your family will be safe.

The most famous grave in Tampa

My friend Tom Castros (pictured) is a taxi driver for United Cab - Tampa's finest cab company. He and I have driven by Oaklawn cemetery for years but never understood the history of it.
It is Gothic in design and was created in 1850 for "slave and freeman." We were able to find the most famous grave in there. The grave of William & Nancy Ashley is a testimony to eternal love.
Nancy was a slave and William was her master. They were in love and married. Because of this, they were both hanged.
What is strange is the executioner was named Jackson. He is the one that put this tombstone on the grave. That's a little creepy.

Amanda Beard short of Olympic bid

Amanda Beard placed fifth in the women's 200 meter breastroke final at Omaha. The London Olympic Games will be the first games she has missed since she burst onto the scene in 1996 at the Atlanta games and won silver in both breastroke events.
Her best games were Athens in 2004 when she won gold in the 200 breast and silver in the 200 IM, making her one of the best overall swimmers in the world.
Sadly, she seems to be most famous for posing nude in Playboy and foe promoting a PETA. poster before the Beijing games of 2008.
Beard is thirty now and Omaha may have been her swan song. My have the years gone by.

BREAKING NEWS : Van on fire on 275 near downtown

A black van rear ended a truck and exploded just moments before I got there. The driver was out and waving frantically at traffic to stay clear of his vehicle on fire.

It seems more times then not when I am traveling this section near downtown some incident has happened. People need to slow down and take extra care. It did not seem anyone was injured in this accident and EMS had been called so I continued on to Tampa international airport.

Oaklawn Cemetery Tampa my be haunted

I began a preliminary investigation of Tampa's oldest gothic cemetery, Oaklawn which is supposed to be haunted . This is the final resting place to the first mayor of Tampa, one of the first governors of florida, Italian homesteaders, yellow fever victims, and most of the people downtown Tampa streets are named after.

when you walk in from Harrison St, you immediately have a sense that you are being watched. Its not a bad feeling; just a feeling that something knows you're there. I have heard others describe this same phenomena. I used my EMF ghost radar and was getting readings like never before. The first words were: DISTANT COURAGEOUS UNTIL CHILDREN The area was swimming with atmospheric Anomalies. Something is going on here and we have only begun a full investigation.

Buddy Brew coffee Tampa

Mitt Romney first visited Tampa two years ago and held a rally at Buddy Brew Coffee on kennedy & Albany. I guess he was anticipating then that he would return to Tampa for the RNC August 2012 and wanted a taste of Tampa.
Many will be coming here and they should enjoy what Tampa has to offer. We have good coffee, cigars, Cuban sandwiches, golf courses, beaches, historical Ybor City and much more.
I hope Romney and the delegates get to enjoy themselves and all that this area has to offer.

Port Tampa bank robbed by Bonnie & Clyde

In the ghost town area of Port Tampa is an old building that is now a public library. The residents that live here may be unaware of the history of this building, and the Port of Tampa.
This building used to be a bank and it held all the payroll money for the ship and dock workers. That is why it became a robbery target for Bonnie and Clyde, who were depression era bank robbers.
Their plan was fairly sound with the port not having been annexed by Tampa and a dirt road being the only way in and out. It worked. They got away with it. Too bad for the workers.
There was no FDIC back then and I imagine many guys did not get paid that week. Conditions were hard back then, much less, to have it compounded by being broke.
Port Tampa has a rich history that I am now researching.

Happy independence day

While you have your cookouts and fireworks today, reflect for a moment of why independence and revolution was necessary. The American people could not continue being subjected to outrageous taxes from a strong centralized government.
Boy, glad we dont have that going on today...right.
